Last week we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to plan a book signing party for Sidney Poitier’s newest novel “Montaro Caine” at the Hotel Bel Air. The beautiful invitation designed by Lehr and Black  began the wonderful celebration. We wanted the ballroom to feel warm and as if you were in someones home. We set up the stage for Mr. Poitier to be interviewed about the book with furnishings from Revelry. I got my color inspiration from the book cover . Mark’s Garden filled gold globes with my favorite flower-peonies..Linens by La Tavola ..Lighting by Images by Lighting .and The food by chef Sunny… just…delicious! This past week, we got to be a part of a very special celebration for the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). The Fifth Annual Heroes Celebration took place at Mr. C’s and was such a beautiful and special night. These type of events remind us that with all the celebrations each week that we coordinate, we have to remember those that are not as fortunate as ourselves. This event grounded us and made us proud to be a part of…we cherish the moments when we can take our experience and help others. Special thanks to our Amy who worked so hard on producing this event. What I loved most about Monique’s Spring 2014 collection is the utterly chic bridal coats and short dresses. There is nothing I love more then a going away outfit. In the past, it seemed like Brides and Grooms lives were so busy, that they did not necessarily leave for a honeymoon the day after the wedding. However, the change of dress during the reception to something short and reminiscent of the going away dress has come back into style!  In addition, I have been planning many international destination Weddings, which entails several events surrounding a wedding (not just the ceremony and reception), that means an entire weekend of bridal appropriate outfits to pack and short dresses work perfectly for these different events! Monique’s new Collection is perfect for the destination wedding and for the second dress for an after party!…cant wait for one of my Brides to wear the lace coat….

This was not the first time Vera has infused the color black into a Bridal collection. And I have to be honest I have actually had a bride purchase a Black Vera Wang gown and it was stunning in person. In the last few seasons Vera has been experimenting with color and as the first Modern Bridal pioneer, she is still giving the world something to think about as she pushes boundaries of what a Bridal gown can be.
The Spring 2014 incorporates black in an approachable way, by keeping the silhouettes more traditional and iconic. The black and white contrasts have the poetry of a ballet. And like a dancer, Vera is always thinking about how the dress looks at multiple angles.
Vera once told me while I was with a bride at fitting, that the design of the back of the gown is just as important as designing the front of the gown, as at most weddings friends and family watch the Bride from the back at alter. Look at the details she included in the backs of these gowns. Beauty and drama from all angles. I also love the gloves she used to style the collection. As many of you might know, this past weekend was the Bridal Market for Spring 2014 in New York. In my next few posts I thought I’d take you through my favorite looks from some of the best collections of the season! Here’s the first one!

The Spring 2014 Bridal collections gave us the unexpected surprise of the short dress. Whether you wear a short Dress for your whole wedding or as a second dress for late night dancing, designers Reem Acra and Marchesa gave us many options to dream about.
Reem included whimsical Umbrellas…..I would love to see one used at a real wedding along unexpected veils.
Marchesa offered not only short dresses perfect for dancing, but also introduced a the Ballet or Tea hem Length, it is something we have not seen in a while and a trend perfect for a garden wedding.
I always say when choosing a wedding dress, you can only chose one man to marry, but you don’t have to chose only one dress to get married in. If you fall in love with a long gown and short dress…get both…..

I’m happy to share this chic party we planned at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York. Cassie who runs our New York office did an outstanding job helping to coordinate this festive event. We were so lucky to have Lewis Miller Designs help us create a beautiful evening. Everyone at the Morgan Library and Museum could not of been nicer and more professional. The food, which was catered by Restaurant Associates was creative and delicious! The menus, seating and place cards were designed by Lehr and Black. One of my favorite things was the living garden walls at the entrance and behind the band. The dance floor was jumping to the Hank Lane Band. At the end of the evening the candles were lit and everyone enjoyed Ron Ben Israel’s fabulous cake!  Remember these are my non-professional pictures the good ones will be on our site soon!  Enjoy. xox Mindy
